Wout Weghorst Signs A Loan Deal With United

Wout Weghorst signs a loan deal. The striker from the Netherlands has made a loan deal to play for Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old completed his loan stint with Turkish club Besiktas from Burnley to sign with Old Trafford.

In 16 league games for Besiktas, Weghorst scored eight times and dished out four assists. He also scored once in two Turkish Cup appearances.

“It’s an honor to join Manchester United,” Weghorst stated.

“It’s a great honor to finally get to wear the club’s famed redshirt after having competed against them in the past. United has made great strides this season under Erik ten Hag, and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success.

After Weghorst scored in Besiktas’ 2-1 win over Kasimpasa on 7 January, he looked to wave goodbye to the team’s supporters.

After a £12 million transfer from German club Wolfsburg, Weghorst joined Burnley in January. However, he was only able to score twice before the Clarets were demoted from the Premier League to the Championship.

His two late goals in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal against Argentina helped even the score, but the Netherlands ultimately lost in penalty shootouts.

After Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag opted to add Weghorst to his attacking options. He hopes for United to bring back the glory days, and he is doing quite a good job being the fastest manager to win 20 games.
