CNN sources say that the House Select Committee investigating January 6 interviewed Steven Mnuchin (ex-Treasury Secretary) of former President Donald Trump.
The committee is focusing on Trump Cabinet officials who are available to testify. It is especially interested in hearing about any conversations between officials regarding invoking Amendment 25 after the attack on the US Capitol.
CNN is being told by sources that the committee is discussing terms for an interview with John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence. The former position of Ratcliffe is classified, so there is an issue that both sides must resolve.
The committee will also interview Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State. On Thursday, the committee will speak with Mick Mulvaney, former White House chief of staff.
CNN reported last year that the committee had previously interviewed Ken Cuccinelli, and also reached out to Chad Wolf. These are two top officials of Trump’s Department of Homeland Security.
A spokesperson for the select committee declined to comment.
